Proprietary Healthcare Delivery System

The manufacturing and delivery of OncoVAX® is a multi-step process.
Vaccinogen and its health care provider partners manage the OncoVAX® treatment process through the use of Vaccinogen’s proprietary health care delivery system. This web-based software tool enables the health care professionals in surgery, pathology, pharmacy and medical oncology to coordinate and track treatment of the patient from surgery scheduling, through vaccine manufacturing, final formulation and administration to the patient over the entire six-month process.
The vaccine is prepared using a proprietary, sterile manufacturing process following surgical removal of the colon tumor. The vaccine is delivered by intradermal injection, the first two vaccines contain tumor cells with fresh frozen BCG, whereas the subsequent two vaccines contain tumor cells alone. The first vaccine dose is administered one month following surgery to allow for the patient's immune system to recover following immunosuppression associated with the surgical procedure. This vaccine activates the patient's immune system, enabling recognition of the unique tumor antigens. The second and third doses are administered on a weekly basis following the first dose. A delayed-type hypersensitivity response (“DTH”) is observed and is indicative of a T-cell response against the tumor antigens in the vaccine. The fourth vaccine dose is administered six months after the surgery and a DTH response is also observed, demonstrating continued presence of a T-cell response (immunologic memory) against tumor antigens.
